Origin of Diwali - a Festival of Joy
Also known as deepavali, a festival of lights. Here is its History.
India is called as a land of festivals, where there will be one or other festival celebrated by people of different states on different times, throughout the year. Every state has its own unique festivals that are not celebrated in other states. For example, Onam is celebrated in Kerala, but not in any other state. Pongal is celebrated in Tamilnadu, but not known in other states.

Basler Fasnacht: A Warm Welcome to Spring
A festival celebrated in Basel, Switzerland.
After relocating to Switzerland, the first local festival, I’m waiting eagerly to celebrate is Basler Fasnacht, which is one of the top 50 festivals celebrated in Europe. This eagerness got triggered even before stepping into Switzerland, when I saw the photos of last year’s Fasnacht, taken by my husband.

Some Famous Indian Festivals and Their Meanings
There are a lot of festivals celebrated all over the world. They all have some meanings and reasons behind the celebrations. Here are some Indian festivals and how they originated.
All festivals celebrated in India have its own meaning and reasons. Most of the festivals are colorful. Though there are many festivals, I love the below five, as they are celebrated in my home. I remember those days when were young, how I longed for a festival day. We used to get new dresses, lot of sweets, gathering of relatives to share happiness, etc… The truth is, gone are those days, in this mechanical life now. By recollecting those moments to put it here in words, I felt the happiness spreading inside me.
